Our sermon series on marriage delves into the contentious topics of divorce and remarriage, as discussed in Mark 10. We confront the pain associated with divorce and our culture’s relaxed views on marital commitments. While spousal abuse is profoundly wrong, it isn’t a biblical ground for divorce. Instead, the abused should seek safety, pray fervently, and wait for God’s work in their spouse, even if restoration seems uncertain. Following Christ demands self-denial and carrying one’s cross, making the Christian approach to marriage and divorce challenging yet grounded in unwavering divine wisdom.
